How Monarch works with BC’s public healthcare system
Monarch Health provides privately paid, uninsured healthspan services. Monarch does not provide, bill for, or charge patients for MSP-insured medical services.
Some physicians who work with or advise Monarch may independently provide MSP-insured medical services through their own medical practices. Those physician services are separate from Monarch Health and are not included in, purchased through, or conditional on a Monarch membership.
With the patient’s consent, Monarch may exchange relevant health information with the patient’s physicians and other healthcare providers to support continuity and coordination of care.
A Monarch membership does not provide priority, expedited or preferential access to MSP-insured medical services. Access to any MSP-insured service is determined independently of Monarch membership and in accordance with the requirements of BC’s public healthcare system.
Your MSP care stays exactly as it is.
Monarch membership covers the privately paid services we provide: assessment, prevention planning, care coordination, monitoring and support. It doesn’t include, speed up or change access to MSP-insured care. Eligibility, medical necessity and access are determined by the public system, the same way they are for everyone.
Some physicians who work with Monarch may independently provide MSP-insured services through their own practices. Those services are separate from Monarch and from your membership.
With your consent, we share relevant information with your family doctor and other providers so your care stays coordinated.
Alongside your family doctor
No family doctor? We can point you to the Health Connect Registry and help you prepare for your first visit. Joining Monarch doesn’t affect your place in the queue, and it isn’t a substitute for primary care.
Membership does not provide preferential access to public healthcare
A Monarch membership does not provide priority, expedited or preferential access to MSP-insured physician services, laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging, specialist consultations, hospital services or other publicly funded healthcare.
Membership fees apply only to uninsured services included in the membership.
If a member requires an MSP-insured service, eligibility, medical necessity and access are determined independently of membership status and in accordance with the requirements of the public healthcare system.
Your information, your care team
With your consent, Monarch can exchange relevant health information with your physicians and other healthcare providers.
This may help your care team understand your health goals, assessments, results and recommendations and support continuity across different parts of your healthcare.
Information is shared only as authorized and in accordance with applicable privacy requirements.
Physician-led healthspan management
Our physicians lead the assessment, interpretation and healthspan planning included in your membership. MSP-insured medical services provided independently by physicians are separate from the Monarch membership and are not provided on a priority basis because of membership.
Testing and investigations
Where appropriate, your assessment may include laboratory testing and other investigations. Publicly funded services remain subject to applicable MSP and public healthcare requirements. Any uninsured testing is clearly identified and discussed with you in advance.
Membership does not provide expedited access to publicly funded diagnostic testing. Where an investigation is privately available, it is a privately paid, uninsured service, identified as such and discussed with you in advance.
